Christine Gambito popularly known as Happy Slip
Christine Gambito or popularly known as Happy Slip is the Filipino American owner and the face behind the one-woman-online-video-show website Happy Slip. Christine is famous for the antics and goofing around she does in her video blog. Christine was born and raised in Virginia Beach, California. Her father hails from Nueva Ecija while her mother is from Manila and she's only been to the Philippines when she was one year-old. She can't speak Tagalog because she wasn't taught by her parents so as not to confuse her and her sister.

Before making people laugh through her videos, Christine has attended several auditions first for commercials and training video and was always cast as the "token Asian woman." She also went to school to study nursing but is not working as a nurse right now though she still has a license and it serves as a back up whenever she wants to practice her profession already.

Initially, Christine just started making wacky videos in the internet as a tool or creative outlet. Upon discovering that she could have her own "channel" on YouTube, she thought of having her own so that she can freely make her own show whenever she has time for it, making the whole world her audience.

Whenever asked why she chose the name "Happy Slip" she says that it doesn't only reminds her of a funny phrase from her past but it also reflects what she likes people to feel whenever they watch her videos-- to slip into happiness.

The term Happy Slip came from the word that her mom usually tells her when she was young.

"While growing up, my mom was always quick to remind me to wear a half slip with my skirts. She would say ?"Your hap eslip!! Be sure to wear your hap eslip!!". So I grew up thinking - the term was always "happy slip", until I was corrected by classmates who asked me if I had a sad slip as well."

Christine uses a Sony DCR-TRV30 MiniDV camcorder and a Final Cut Express for her productions. She claims that she is her own production team and mostly does everything for her videos-- scripting, directing, acting and editing. In some occasions, she asks her family members to hold the camera for complex scenes.

The latest news is that she has begun filming for a debut around Feb 2009 for MTV With over 500,00 hits on her TV channel, Christine Gambito is regarded as one of YouTube's sensation though at first, she was a bit hesitant and afraid that people won't understand the humor behind her videos and might think that she's mocking or doing her videos in a negative way. She also got the 2nd place for Best Comedy in the 2006 YouTube Video Awards.

Christine is now an official ambassador for the Department of Tourism so in her recent tour and what she considers as her first time, in the Philippines, she recorded her entire tour in the Philippines using her Mini-DV Camcorder. Aside from visiting Boracay, Cebu, Bohol, Palawan and Tagaytay, Christine also had the chance to meet her fans and other bloggers through the event "Happy Slip Meet and Greet," organized by Yehey.com.
